About this piece

A gold-plated anklet is a solid 925 sterling silver payal finished with a micron layer of 18k gold — genuine silver underneath, not brass or steel. This one comes in yellow or rose gold plating over a fine sterling cable chain, about 4.2 g of stated silver, BIS purity-marked on the base metal. Plating on an anklet wears faster than on a pendant, because feet meet shoes, floors and water, and we would rather say that here than after you have bought it.

How to wear

Put it on last when dressing and take it off first. Keep it away from chlorine, sanitiser and the inside of a shoe — friction against leather is what strips anklet plating fastest. Wipe with the dry cloth only; never silver dip, which removes the gold layer outright.

Silver care

Wipe with the cloth in your box after wear, and store the piece dry in its pouch — trapped moisture is what darkens silver fastest. Put jewellery on last, after perfume, lotion and hairspray, and take it off before a bath, the pool or the gym.
