How to choose a silver nose pin
Nose stud, nose ring or press-on?
A nose stud sits flat on the nostril; ours is a petite CZ stud on an L-bend post, which goes in easily and stays put. A nose ring is a hoop through the nostril; ours is a seamless hoop of 7–10 mm in plain or oxidised silver. If you are not pierced, the press-on nose pin clips onto the nostril with no piercing at all.
Bridal nath
The nath is the large bridal nose ring of Rajasthan and North India. Ours is oxidised silver with 4 mm freshwater pearls and a 14 cm chain that hooks into the hair, so the weight rests on the hair and not on the piercing. The post is 0.8 mm and it is for healed piercings only.
Is silver safe for a nose piercing?
Wear silver only in a piercing that has fully healed. For a fresh piercing, keep in the starter stud your piercer used until they say it has healed. Take the pin out to clean it, and dry the nostril before you put it back.
