The Detail

About this piece

A nath is the large nose ring worn by Rajasthani and North Indian brides — a wide hoop that passes through a healed nostril piercing, with a fine chain that hooks into the hair so the weight sits on the scalp instead of dragging on the piercing. This one is certified 925 sterling silver at about 5 g, oxidised so the wirework reads dark against the skin, and threaded with small freshwater pearls in the Jaipur moti-nath style. It is a wedding and festival piece for a fully healed piercing — not everyday jewellery, and not something to put into a fresh one.

How to wear

Put the nath on last, after hair and makeup are finished: thread the thin post through a fully healed nostril piercing, close the hoop, then clip the chain into your hairline just above the ear so the hoop hangs free and the weight rests on your hair. Never force it into a fresh or still-healing piercing. After the function, buff only the raised wire and the pearl caps with the dry cloth — polishing into the recesses strips the oxidised contrast that makes the wirework visible. Store it flat so the chain does not knot around the hoop.

Silver care

Wipe with the cloth in your box after wear, and store the piece dry in its pouch — trapped moisture is what darkens silver fastest. Put jewellery on last, after perfume, lotion and hairspray, and take it off before a bath, the pool or the gym. Tarnish, when it appears, is a harmless surface reaction that wipes off — and it only happens to real silver. Avoid toothpaste and baking soda on rhodium, gold-plated or oxidised finishes. Questions

Frequently asked

Can I wear a silver nath in a new nose piercing?

No. Wait until the piercing is fully healed — usually 4 to 6 months for a nostril — and keep the implant-grade stud your piercer fitted until then. Sterling silver tarnishes inside a healing fistula and can irritate it, so we would rather tell you to wait than sell you a nath for your piercing day.

Does a nath this size hurt or pull on the piercing?

Not when the chain is used. At about 5 g the hoop is light for its 32 mm span, and the 14 cm chain hooks into your hair so your scalp takes most of the load — the way a traditional nath has always been worn. Going without the chain for a few photographs is fine, but clip it in for a full wedding day.

Is this real 925 sterling silver?

Yes. Every anokhi piece is solid 925 sterling silver (92.5% pure), BIS hallmarked for 925 purity where applicable, and ships with a certificate of authenticity — never silver-plated or German silver.

Will it tarnish, and how do I care for it?

Pieces carry an anti-tarnish finish. Wipe with the included cloth, avoid perfume/water contact, and store dry in the pouch between wears to keep them bright for years.

What are the shipping, COD and return terms?

Free shipping above ₹999, cash on delivery pan-India, and 7-day easy returns on unused, hallmarked items in original packaging. Authenticity issues are refunded in full.
