Silver Waist & Belly Chains
925 kamarband, hip & belly chains — minimal to oxidised.
A silver waist chain — kamarband in Hindi, aranjanam in Tamil, hip chain or belly chain in English — is a fine chain worn at the natural waist or lower on the hip. This collection brings together anokhi's 925 sterling silver waist and belly chains: minimal single strands for daily wear, layered double chains, simple bead hip chains, and oxidised kamarband with ghungroo bells for saree and lehenga occasions. Every piece is genuine sterling silver, BIS hallmarked, adjustable across at least four inches, and listed with its exact silver weight so you know what you are paying for.
About silver waist & belly chains
What is the difference between a waist chain and a belly chain?
They are the same ornament worn at different heights. A waist chain sits at the natural waist, usually over a saree or lehenga; a belly chain sits lower, at or just below the navel, and is normally worn on bare skin. A hip chain sits lower still, across the hip bones. All our designs adjust enough to be worn either way.
How do I measure for a waist chain?
Run a tape around your body exactly where you want the chain to fall and add about an inch of ease. Add another inch or two if you will wear it over a petticoat or saree rather than on skin. Every listing states its full adjustable range.
Is oxidised kamarband real silver?
Yes — it is genuine 925 sterling silver with a darkened antique surface finish. Oxidation is a surface treatment, not a cheaper metal, so the piece is sterling silver all the way through and hallmarked accordingly.
Will a silver waist chain break with daily wear?
Not with normal wear. We use soldered links and a lobster or screw clasp rather than jump-ring joins at the stress points. Remove it before swimming and gym work, and store it flat rather than coiled to avoid kinking the finer strands.
